2100 COLLINS AVENUE
Coral Gables, the "City Beautiful", "Your Castle in Spain", or "Florida's Master Suburb"... Whatever people chose to call it, this community is a true masterpiece. Constructed in the crazy land boom days of the 1920s, the district holds an uncharacteristic aura of charm and perfection. Come bike the shady streets of The Gables, bearing witness to the dream of George Merrick, mother Althea, Uncle Denman Fink, and other artistic individuals. See where it started at "Guavonia", today known as the elegant "Merrick House". Continue down to splendid Venetian Pool, with a glance back to the days of synchronized swimming, alligator wrestling shows, orchestras, and riotous land sales. The grand Biltmore Hotel, old-world fountains, even a few 'themed villages' are included on this pleasant bike tour.
